Why are you working in therapy/mental health?

I became a therapist for several reasons, one being that I am a natural helper. It is who I am. I am drawn to helping people and people are drawn to me to help them. I am grateful I get to be a trusting, supportive and empathetic person in someone’s life, someone who may not have that or ever have had that.

I also personally know how important and helpful therapy can be. I wanted to offer the support that has helped me in the past.

Why did you start working with Talkspace?

I started working with Talkspace because I believed in their mission and the idea of providing affordable and flexible therapy to everyone.

Holli Fiscus-Connon quote

What is a Consultation Therapist at Talkspace? What do they do?

A consultation therapist is the first point of contact someone has when entering the site. We are similar to an intake therapist. I help to explain how Talkspace works. I then connect a person with the therapist who is best suited for them.

Why is your work as a Consultation Therapist important?

It is important work for so many reasons. We are the face to Talkspace and committed to making sure a person’s experience with Talkspace is therapeutic and enjoyable.

Having the right therapist is crucial to the therapeutic process. I put a lot of work into making sure I have created a great match.

If you had one piece of advice for a therapy-seeker, what would it be?

I think the biggest piece of advice I can give is to allow therapy to follow the natural course and not rush through it.
